About Us
Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the second-leading cause of cancer-related deaths in Canada and the United States. Thankfully, there are a series of well-established tests and procedures doctors use to identify and treat colorectal cancer. Colonoscopy is the most accurate test for CRC and is proven to detect the disease early and save lives. While billions of dollars are spent on screening programs around the world, the success of a patient’s colonoscopy is largely dependent on the quality of their bowel prep. There are a number of barriers to a successful prep, including purchasing the prep, finding a driver, adhering to a clear liquid diet, and completing the bowel preparation. Patients often describe these steps as the worst part of the entire procedure, and experience significant anxiety and uncertainty throughout this complicated process.
Since 2018, we’ve been building Symbi to guide patients through their healthcare journey and provide them with support when they need it most. We’re a young team of engineers and designers and have built an accomplished group of clinical advisors from leading healthcare institutions across Canada and the US. It’s a great privilege to be able to work on this important problem, and we won’t stop until we’ve helped every patient through the most important test of their lives.
